Dr. Bass is a board certified veterinarian within the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. He also serves on the AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners) Board of Directors. He graduated from CSU in 2007 and then completed an equine internship at Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale, CA. After completion of the internship, he remained at Pioneer Equine Hospital as an associate veterinarian focusing on ambulatory practice, reproduction, lameness, and dentistry. After spending a year on the western slope with Colorado River Veterinary Services, Dr. Bass and his family decided to return to CSU as a faculty member in the Equine Field Service department where he focuses on equine ambulatory medicine and teaching of undergraduate equine science and veterinary students. In his spare time, Dr. Bass loves spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, and enjoying outdoor sports.

Dr. Swain is board certified in large animal internal medicine through the ACVIM. She graduated from veterinary school at CSU in 2010. Swain finished an internship with Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital. After this, she completed a residency at the University of California, Davis in Large Animal Internal Medicine, with an emphasis in equine medicine. Swain is interested in all aspects of equine veterinary medicine, though has a special interest in neonatology. She has returned to Colorado State University as a faculty member of the Equine Field Service. Swain enjoys teaching veterinary and undergraduate students, and has a passion for running, skiing or pursuing other outdoor activities in her free time.
