Biography

The Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service is pleased to announce the addition of Williana Basuki, the first CSU full-time dental resident. Dr. Basuki was born and grew up in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. She earned her veterinary degree at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia in 2010. After University, she worked as a small animal practitioner for a year before entering into a rotating internship followed by a surgery internship at Queensland Veterinary Specialist and Pet Emergency, Brisbane. We are very excited to have Dr. Basuki joining the Dentistry and Oral Surgery team!

Biography

Megan grew up in western Massachusetts and earned a bachelors in science degree in animal science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After a brief career as a zoo keeper she decided to earn a degree in veterinary technology from Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, CO. After graduating from CMC Megan moved to Fort Collins and was working at a local veterinary clinic for a few years. In 2012 she started working in the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service at Colorado State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Chad Lothamer

Biography

Dr. Lothamer graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. After graduation he practiced in a small animal clinic in the town of Brevard North Carolina for 6 years before deciding that veterinary dentistry was his calling and returned to academia to pursue specialized training in dentistry and oral surgery. From 2012 through 2015 he completed a residency program in dentistry and oral surgery at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Lothamer joined the faculty of Colorado State University in August of 2015. Dr. Lothamer interests are in educating veterinary students so that they are comfortable with dentistry after graduation. Research interests include jaw fracture management, feline chronic stomatitis, and local anesthesia techniques.

Margie Smith

Biography

Margie Smith was born and raised in Southern Indiana. She has always maintained a passion for working with animals and decided to pursue veterinary medicine at an early age. She obtained a Bachelors of Science from Indiana University. She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine before spending a year at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She performed a one year rotating internship at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver, CO prior to moving to Loveland, CO. Margie is excited to be joining the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service to pursue a lifelong love of animals and interest in oral health. Her primary interests are in porcine dentistry and jaw fracture repair in small animals. She lives in Loveland, CO with her partner and three dogs: two German Shepherds and one Chihuahua born with no front limbs. In her free time, Margie enjoys hiking, running, reading, and traveling.
